Blueheath stands behind Legacy Week to support veteran families

Blueheath at The Bower is proudly supporting Legacy Week 2026, helping raise awareness and funds for an organisation that provides vital support to veterans' families across Australia.

With many veterans and veteran families calling the Medowie community home, supporting Legacy is a meaningful way to recognise those who have served and the families who continue to be supported long after military service has ended.

As one of the first organisations to purchase aLegacy badge tray this year, Principle Living is encouraging residents andvisitors of Blueheath to get behind the annual fundraiser, with badge saleshelping Legacy continue its important work.

Resident Ann Harris has supported Legacy for many years, first becoming involved through the RSL Women's Auxiliary before volunteering to sell Legacy badges during previous fundraising campaigns.

“Legacy Week is so important because it keeps that support going for families who have lost a loved one,” Ann said.

“It's achance for the community to come together and help ensure those families knowthey haven't been forgotten.”

Following the passing of her husband in 2015, Ann experienced Legacy's support firsthand after joining one of the organisation’s widows groups around 18 months later.

“Having Legacy as a support system means you can connect with others who understand what you've been through,” she said.

“There is always someone you can call for a chat and support. My daughters were adults when my husband passed away, but the burden was still incredibly difficult to cope with. I can't imagine how tough it must be for families with young children.”

Beyond practical assistance, Legacy provides ongoing financial support, advocacy and social connection to help veterans’ families navigate life after loss. From assistance with everyday expenses, education and access to entitlements, to monthly morning teas, community outings, family activities and supported holidays, Legacy helps widows, widowers, children and families remain connected, supported and able to thrive.

Ann said she was proud to see Principle Living supporting Legacy Week and helping raise awareness within the Blueheath community.

“It's wonderful to see Principle Living get behind Legacy because it helps shine a light on the difference the organisation makes every day.”

“Supporting Legacy is a simple way to give back to the families who have sacrificed so much for our country. Every badge sold helps ensure that support is there for the next family that needs it.”
